The Beginning.

Big S and I have known each other for a while.  We met when we were in high school.  He was a sophomore and I was a freshman when I first HEARD about him.  I didn’t really know him, but I knew of him.  The sophomore hockey player.  That’s about all I knew.  I knew he played hockey.  I thought he was hot.  And that he was dating my friend.  And by dating, I mean she stalked his hockey games.  But whatever.

Then my junior year we had a class together.
But really, it should have been Chemistry.
(OH MAN, I am corny.)
And that’s when we fell in love.  Big S had just broken up with some girl, and he happened to talk to me at the one point in time during high school when I wasn’t dating a baseball player.  We talked from time to time, but it wasn’t until a beautiful spring afternoon when I actually hung out with him for the first time.

The first time we ever hung out outside of school was when some of my friends on the crew team (Yes, I was a rowing nerd.) picked me up from a crew yard sale and told me I had to help them with some video for their russian class.
Telling people how we first started dating sounds kinda sketchy.
“Oh. Yeah.  He just picked me up at a yard sale to make a video with him….”

So they needed me to play a russian girl Big S was trying to date.  I know absolutely no russian.  And refused to try to say anything in russian, so I mainly just say “Oh!” the entire video and make dumb faces.  So enough talking about it.  Here’s the video:

The Beginning.
^Click that.
Do it.

I forewarned you about my dumb faces.  But I didn’t forewarn you that this was shot by a 16 year old boy with zero camera experience, hense the sound changes.  I really love the part where the leaf blower is going in the background.  This is for sure top notch, quality video footage of history in the making.  Plus all the stupid humor in the video just makes it even better, doesn’t it?

As much as I make fun of it now, when the guys gave me the DVD I seriously watched it every day for like, 4 months straight.  It was one of my favorite things in the world.  And it still is.  This is something I can show Little S and Baby B one day and tell them this is mommy and daddy’s first date (Then they’ll ask why I look so different and skinny back then and I’ll tell them that it’s their fault mommy is fat and has bags under her eyes now.)  I just love how the one kid said that one line about how Big S was trying to date me “and possibly marriage, but who knows”.  And now here we are.  This was just sent to me today.

Seriously?  Come on now.  It’s like, unfair how incredibly amazing Big S is.
After everything we’ve been through, and he still loves me.  I mean, he knew me in high school for crying out loud.  I wasn’t even like, remotely likeable in high school.
But he liked me.

I mean, he liked me even when I had a mouth full of cake.
And he liked me enough to date me long distance while he was in Denver.

But he also liked me enough to move back to Virginia.

And marry me.
He married me when he wasn’t obligated to.
He wanted to.
And we said “I do.”

Then we had him.

(Taken by Tim Riddick Photography.  Seriously. He’s done so many amazing photos for us.)

And honestly, the road we took is exactly what I’d take again if I had the option.
I actually could have graduated from college this year.  But instead of being handed a piece of paper, I’ll be handed my precious new baby with my soulmate right by my side this spring.  Which is more than anything I could have ever hoped for.
